MOT failure - split boot on a Galaxy

The wee boot on my ball joint has failed and has a tiny nick, the picture shows the bottom of the suspension on the front of the car. Is this an MOT failure, I suspect it is.

I am fairly sure the part is available on ebay, but am unable to recall what to search for can anyone help?

no, not a failure. The only thing they can fail a balljoint on is excessively play. So providing there is no play, the split boot is NOT a failure.

You will get an advisory, but it needs to be fixed anyway!

It is a "Bottom Ball Joint", you might be able to just get the boot which would be cheaper, but as your popping it out anyway I would just change the whole thing!

Thanks for the comments, I was searching for balljoint instead of "ball joint" and the space meant no results, cheers Snuffle.
