How badly can this end....
Discussion
Been thinking naughty thoughts about V8 goodness for some time....i now appear to be winning an auction on the bay
The plan....win a rather tired BUT solid Rover P6 for pennies...and turn it into a bit of a sleeper/excuse for V8 noise.
I've got a spare 5 speed SD1 box at home so the plan is (if i win her) to ditch the slush box and stick the manual jobby in and then spend some money on a twin exhaust set up (as per on my/Dads MGB V8 conversion....which sounds mental)
Outwardly i dont plan to touch the car at all, the more sheddy the better...but i just love the idea of a 37 year old Rover that will sound like a TVR and with a proper 'box be funnish to drive too!
Fingers crossed!

I had an automatic one a number of years ago.
Not all that fast to be honest, but very comfortable and that De-Dion tube rear suspension set up was amazing.
I may or may not have fitted a straight through exhaust to it that set car alarms of on demand!

Just that everytime i go in the workshop i see the SD1 box and it is just asking for a new home

For some reason I seem to be encountering P6s everywhere I go the past week. One either lives on my street now, or is a frequent visitor (spare wheel mounted on top of the boot). I was surprised to see/hear it (it does sound good) that I must be especially sensitive to them now.
I saw a second one on the road from Bromsgrover to Kidderminster. A third on the Westwood Business Park in Coventry. And the fourth passed me (going in the other direction) while I was out cycling yesterday - he was on his way into Henley-in-Arden.
Don't think I've seen an SD1 in years. Perhaps this is an indication of their relative robustness?

Last SD1 i saw in the flesh was the one we broke for the gearbox and engine (latter wasshot though) for our B conversion. Really not a fan of them at all, much prefer a P6 any day.I saw a second one on the road from Bromsgrover to Kidderminster. A third on the Westwood Business Park in Coventry.
