E90 on all season tyres
Discussion
Hi all,
I have just sold my E39 530i sport auto, which ended up stuck on my drive last winter for some weeks as we had bad snow and ice in central Scotland. I had Falken 452s all round, with decent tread.
I am looking at an E90 320d, despite my better half not being keen on rwd cars after last winter, and it has 16 inch run flats on. From what I've read, run flats are even worse in cold weather.
Has anyone tried non-run flat, all season tyres, such as Vredestein Quatrac 3s? Are they any good in cold/snowy weather, and how do they perform in summer?
Thanks!

Having researched the topic in an attempt to have a driveable 1 Series if it snows again this winter, the general consensus on All Season tyres seems to be that they're jack of all trades but not very good at anything.
Personally I don't want to sacrifice spring/summer/autumn performance just for a few snowy days per year plus marginally better cold weather performance generally, so I've bought a set of mid range performance biased winter tyres (Falken HS439s) to put on my stock 18" rims which should perform well in regular UK winter conditions (ie dry/wet cold roads with frost etc). These will be much better than a summer tyre if it snows but perhaps aren't the ultimate snow tyre compared to the extreme nordic type winter tyres you can get which are generally much poorer in non snow conditions. These will be taken off next spring and stored in the garage, its a bit of an inconvenience/cost to keep swapping back and forth but worth it IMHO.
