A lad who works at the garage attached to my place has a 1977 2.7 911 non-turbo, but for some reason it's only running on the left hand bank. He's taken the head off and there is a bit of valve-to-piston damage but he's filled the head with wd-40 and it didn't leak out. There's compression (but how much is unkown as he couldn't compression test it in the car), a spark and fuel, but still it won't fire on all six pots...

Anyone have any ideas why? or - anyone know of anywhere that does reconned 2.7 911 engines or has one lying around?

Cheers

The 2.7 isn't a good engine - far better that he sticks an SC or 3.2 lump in it.

I presume it is something more serious than an ignition related problem then? If it isn't seized, it ought to fire unless there's absolutely no compression at all or it isn't getting a spark or fuel.

it was running the last time it was in the car, the pistons have small marks on the crowns which look as if the valves have hit them, so I reckon the timing chain *might* have stretched and sent the RHS bank timing out... that's the only thing I can come up with.
