carbon fibre m400
Discussion
looking to take my m400 off the road and use it to take moulds and together with a very clever friend of mine make a carbon fibre front clam 2x side air scoops and a rear valance and some other interesting bits once i have the finished project and the moulds i might advertise if anyone might be interested ?
Not wishing to pee on said parade but the front clam weighs approx 18K if I remember correctly. Assuming a carbon front clam is 50% (which it may not as quite a lot of the OEM 18kg is not GRP - headlights, fittings, grill, steel bar across front etc) thats a weight saving of max 9Kg and for what price. Also the standard Noble is front end light so you'd be far better off going to make the back end carbon. This a great idea for bragging value but not so surte for out and out performance benefit. If it were a real performance improver then, yes you guessed it, its been considered before. Th eproblem from performance side of thing is that its far too easy and now thoroughly sorted to simply up the engine spec to overcome many of the Nobles foibles.
Maybe if you are already at 550-600 BHP and tracking faster than many a fast thing it might be worth it to nibble away at those lap times but for most users I'd get a clear price and firm orders before committing to this as anything other than a personal project.

I suspect the cockpit is were the most weight could be saved... cant see it being worth it though... much better to spend your cash on carbon brakes and lighter wheels etc... even the engine etc I've saved nearly 10kgs in the engine rotating masses (clutch, flywheel etc) and that will be far more effective than 20kgs saving on the body and cheaper!

+1just to put you further in the picture the rest of the car is no standard m400 the brakes wheels and suspension are all uprated the engine has 495.2 bhp dyno'd at noble motor sport
engine mods include exhaust inc manifolds , intercooler, clutch, fuel pump, remap, and engine rebuild to take the bhp upgrade
so the carbon upgrades are more of a hobby/personal enjoyment, than trying to save weight and if they turn out ok the rear clam and doors will follow next winter .
and i dont think you can beat the look of real carbon fibre under lacker (the car is black to start with ) so more of a extra head turning feature than trying to shed the extra few kg's
once the bits are done i will get prices sorted for the side soops for you and you can look at mine before you order a pair

I think it would look great butengine mods include exhaust inc manifolds , intercooler, clutch, fuel pump, remap, and engine rebuild to take the bhp upgrade

I would be very carefull in sheding weight from the front, the M400 suffers understear out the box and even with stiffer suspension you wont cure it.
What suspension changes have you done?
I am looking at options at the moment for camber and toe adj which IMO is the only way of dialing it out.
By decreasing the weight at the front you will unbalance the car even more which could make it more twitchy and cause more understear.I think if you change the front you should change the rear at the same time to keep the car balanced.
Have you tracked it yet?

Toe and Camber is the only way forward to get the turn in.
