Just an observation from my first time up there yesterday, seemed to be a lot of interruptions in the sessions, Quite a few offs/failures and long closure times.

is that just bad luck OR par for the course at Cadwell?

Fantastic track and a top day all the same!

Good timing Scho! I was at Cadwell yesterday with Javelin. Great track, great weather, great fun, but there were 74 cars and yes, a considerable number of 'offs' resulting in track stoppages. I guess it's both a pretty fast and challenging track, so the combination of both inevitably leads to some 'moments'. I got lucky - car behaved impeccably all day, and then 20 minutes from home my front-left caliper came off it's mounting! I had the front pair refurbed and powder coated 6 months ago and it looks like the left one wasn't screwed back on tight enough!

As an occassional visitor to Cadwell I would have to say yesterday was unusually bad for stoppages. Not sure why, weather was fine and from what I saw driving standards pretty good. Mixture of breakdowns and offs I think. Cadwell staff are pretty good at clearing up the damage and re-opening the track, but got a bit painful late in the afternoon when there were 3 or 4 stoppages in quick succession. Still had an excellent day though.

What was the temperature like? I was up at knockhill at the weekend and it was about 7C all day - meant tyres weren't getting as warm, took longer to heat up etc - I felt less grip all day and there were a substantially higher number of stoppages as various cars visited the scenery (including a scooby that rolled several times) - I attribute the higher incident rate to the cool track.

Temperature fine, plenty grip, at least as good as I remember from previous dry Cadwell days. Judging from the paddock area, the grass surrounding the grippy bit would have been pretty slimy though and that might have led to more spinners actually reaching the tyre wall. I saw 3 spin offs in action and the cars didn't appear to leave the track all that fast but certainly didn't slow down much before hitting something solid. Out of Mansfield into the brick marshalls post seemed a favourite.
