Places to stay in Honkers!
Discussion
Afternoon all,
I am off to Hong Kong on the 10th November for 4/5 nights before flying to Vietnam for 2 weeks. Because this is a really last-minute trip money is going to be fairly tight- I'm not too worried about the Vietnam leg however need to keep costs low in Honkers.
I know this is PH, and everyone will recommend 4-star business hotels, however where would anyone recommend in terms of -
1. Actual establishments
and
2. General areas to stay
Basically, I need to spend less than £50/night, and preferably more like £30, don't mind fairly basic but clean places. Not necessarily adverse to a decent dormitory, however I can't get into the YMCA Salisbury, sadly. I've got lots planned, mainly around the city but would also like to get to outlying areas, therefore easy travel- Should I stay near the centre?
TIA!

Just quickly as I'm between meetings at work, there are some cheaper rooms, like Club Quarters or upmarket youth hostels in Kowloon, around Tsim Sha Tsui that I found on booking.com recently as I was looking to take my family there for Christmas/New Year
Tsim Sha Tsui has good connections with the Airport train (one of the few stops it makes) and Central (1 stop on the MTR or take the Star Ferry)
I, like you, don't have everyone elses £ hundreds/night budget.

Just for an overnight stop, I normally stay at the Prudential Hotel.
It's literally directly above Jordan underground station.
Right on Nathan Road, and on the main metro line to Kowloon, Airport, etc. within easy striking distance.
It's not the best hotel in town (although it's cheap and nice enough), it's so simple to get to if you're in a hurry.
I can get from the airport to the room in less than an hour, without having to trudge the streets. You have to walk a couple of hundred metres, through the station, go up the escalators in the shopping centre, and you're in the hotel lobby.
If you're there for more than a day or two, get an Octopus card (same as an Oyster card), it makes metro journeys easier and quicker, you don't have to keep fiddling with change, or buying daily tickets.
