Right... Need some advice on this situation... Iwas driving down the A23 on my way to Brighton (was between Gatwick and Brighton). I was doing about 80mph and the cars infront were doing a few mph more when suddenly I noticed in a layby a Police Volvo estate and a "transit" size police van (usual reflective chrevon signs and POLICE stamped all pver it) with 2 "windows" open at the top of the rear doors - What is this? ANPR? I'm sure I saw 2 like CCTV cameras in these windows. What's the likelihood of them doing people for speeding? I did think that if they saw anyone speeding then the Volvo would pull out and detain? If so not sure why it was there...

Can anyone advise/help?

Don't panic until you get an envelope.

Smells like ANPR to me though

Don't panic - It's the Sussex ANPR van.

They operate down the A23, often with a bunch of patrol cars a mile down the road to pick up offenders.

'Safety' Camera teams do not currently target the A23 in Sussex - they focus on local urban thoroughfares.
