Leaky Griff

Just realised where the rain is coming into my 1995 Griff 500. There is a gap between the drivers door and the inner rubber seal at the point where the top of the front wing meets the door/windscreen.

Compared to the near side this gap is larger. I know it is hand built but is there any adjustment that can be made?

Has anyone else had this problem? The drivers footwell carpet is soaking and started to rot, so need to get it sorted.

Yes. The door hinges have shims to set the distance they sit from the car body. Sounds like you have either tired (or they are too small) door seals or one shim too many in the top hinge. I'm afraid it's a bit of a pain to adjust.

Mine also has a slight leak coming into the drivers footwell only, cant seem to see where it is coming from though, which is very frustrateing.
The Other side is fine, but my first one Feb 96 registered, leaked like a sieve into the front and rear footwells.

My 96 500 used to leak like a sieve also but after reproofing the roof it is now as dry as a bone. It seemed to drip down behind the B posts and saturate and rot carpets etc. The stink was unbearable. Replaced carpets etc, with synthetic so if a bit of rain does enter at least the carpets dont rot. Proved when heater hose burst in the passenger well, boiling hot coolant everywhere. When I returned home washed carpets in detergent and now as good as new no shringage or smell. Wool far better for appearance but synthetic rather more practical.

COuld be the cover for the clutch cylinder not sealed properly .
