Bit of a dumb question really but here's my situation.

im in need of 4 new tyres on the car i've just bought. If it helps its a Volvo 360GLT. Here's what I know so far.

Original alloys are 14" 4x100 with 185x65 rear tyres and 175x65 front.

I am currently thinking that it might be worth buying some second hand alloys with some decent tyres already on them. Want to keep things as cheap as possible and buying alloys with tyres means I don't need to hunt for tyres that fit. Also buying new could mean spending more than I did on the entire car and I don't plan on keeping the car that long!

So i'll get round to my questions...
How important is diameter of wheel with regards to the width of tyre used?
And,
What is offset, how important is it and what offset would I need to look for?
Finally,
How important is it to keep circumference the same? i.e. larger rim using lower profile tyre to keep same circ.

Not fussed on what the alloys look like, just thinking purely in terms of handling with slightly larger alloy = wider tyre + lower profile.

Any tips on where to buy (currently checking fleabay and blackcircles for if I just buy new tyres.) would also be appreciated biggrin

ETA: not sure why i've thrown it in here other than there was a couple of other alloy topics in here. Nout really to do with suspension or brakes. Mods, feel free to move to relative forum...
