As per title what is the best way to insure an extra car, have extra car vw golf gti worth about £1500 i currently pay £250 a year for seat but they want £650 to add the golf, this seems a bit much.

What is the best option third party multi car etc

My experience (albeit tainted by a company car)

Car 1 (Daily Barge) insured with "someone I spoke to on the phone". No point in telling you the premium as it's the postcode lottery

Car 2 (Weekend toy) 350BHP, LHD, US Made, garaged. Talked to a real person again (specialist), who offered me a discount to match my driving/claims record, based on a limited mileage (5k pa) @ 65% of the premium of the daily barge. I can never gain an NCD against this though.

Therefore, talk to real people and not call centres and preferably specialists that are there to understand your needs.

However, don't compare last year's premium with this year's, as most premiums seem to be going north....

Depending on the age of the golf, and the intended mileage..might be worth looking at a classic policy. Normally has to be 10 years old, and limited mileage...and dependant on having use of another car...which you have. I had an XJ-S insured for £200 with 7000 a year miles.
