I went to a large used car Supermarket on the weekend. The sales assistant said that apparently they don't Negotiate on price. Has anyone here bought from them and did you manage to get any movement on price?

It's quite simple really. You make an offer, they decline, you buy elsewhere. If they need your money, they'll accept the offer. That's what I'd do. If you really, really want the car and deep down would pay the price asked then they will win. If you go in with your wife and you're going "hmm not sure" and she's going "BUT IT'S SO NICE! I WANT IT!" then you're screwed on the negotiating side.

Never bought from one but know a few who have and as I understand it they stack them high and sell them cheap for a fast turn over. They give rubbish trade in and the price you see is normally the price you pay. They will sometimes negotiate on the extra's like warranty etc so you might get a longer warranty for free but normally they spend more time pushing rubbish extra's instead like car protection cleaning.

Go in with no trade in, pay the price on the car and tell the sales guy you don't want any of the other stuff he tries to sell you, that's the best way to use them.

I bought a 1yr old car from a 'Supermarket' and didn't haggle on price. After he shook my hand, he said to me, "That was easy... normally people ask for roof rails, tow bars and a set of mats.". Doh!!!

I'll know for next time. The car has been good to me, so I can't complain.

Can you buy the same car cheaper elsewhere? (Obviously no two used cars will ever be the same, so I mean almost the same for better value)

If you can, go and buy it. If not buy it from C/G at the asking price.

I spent a good half hour trying to get the price down by £100 and failed.

Car Giant always review their prices, so if the car stays in stock they keep reducing it.

I bought my current car there. Kept an eye on it and over a 9 week period watched the price tumble £2.5K. Then I nipped down on a Friday evening to buy it and beat someone else to it by 15 minutes!

I work in a car supermarket (but not in sales), we don't move on the price of the car either. Not sure if there is a deal to be had on finance/extras though.

My mum didnt know what car she wanted so it was ideal going there so she could see all different ones.

We ended up seeing something she liked and got quite a good deal there windscreen prices are so high there is loads to move, this was the lakeside one. ( cargriant or carcraft cant remember )

We went to this same one when looking for my brothers first car. The margins seemed stupid, 3 year old 30k ford ka, basic apart from A/C.....£5599!!! It would have only been about £6200 new

I looked in one of these types of places once and thought the standard of cars and prices were poor.

I'm sure they suit some, but not for me.
