Just had my Griff 500 engine rebuilt by Dave at Porter Motorsport and what an excellent job he's done. The car basically went in to find out why it had dangerously low oil pressure and burnt oil at an excessive rate. The low pressure was down to some previous muppet having at some stage taken the valley gasket off and allowed the rubber end seals remains to drop into the block and find their way into the sump. They were then sucked into the oil pickup pipe and due to it's design, totally clog the pipe up, thus starving the engine of oil. Not only that, the oil pump feed hole into the block was 50% blocked by silcon sealant, so let that be a lesson to you DIY engine builders. The excessive oil consumption was down to oval bores, so a new set of long skirt pistons were supplied by TVRPower along with a slightly different cam than the standard 435.

The car now drives absolutley superbly. It's far more smoother and although it's still in it's bedding in stage, the extra bit of grunt from the cam and removal of the pre-cats, is easily recognisable.

So my thanks to Dave for his meticulous attention to detail in rebuilding the engine and to TVRPower for the cam and the engineering work to the block. So anyone in the Midlands area, here is an alternative to the usual TVR dealers/independants.

Glad to hear that things are looking good with the upgrade, I know that Dave will have done a good job.

Yes we are lucky to have Dave Porter, Dom and Jamie at TVR Power on our doorstep, lets not forget Adrian Venn either.

It will be interesting to see just how much difference there is between our cars noise levels with your "extra" mods.

Dropped mine off at Gregs yesterday, still undecided as to which way to go if you know what I mean.
