Gentlemen,

Anyone know if you can/how you remove the gear knob from a Chim? Mine is badly scratched from the previous owner (guess he/she wore rings) and I'd like to get it replaced. Doesn't seem to unscrew though - or if it does it's very very tight, or glued as well. Is there a trick here I'm missing??? It appears to be made in two parts, what's all that about??

Once I can get it off, anyone know if the thread on the gear lever is a standard size? i.e. can I just pop into Halfords and buy a MOMO replacement (or similar)???

Your help greatly appreciated with this perplexing knob problem!

- A.

If you pull the gator down a bit there is a lock nut below the knob, you may need to rgip it with pliers and a cloth twist knob one way and lock nut the other. I expect they are expensive like everything else trev

The knob unscrews anti-clockwise (its normal for it to be tight - a sheet of thin rubber like the ones sold for opening jars is often useful).

If you want the same style of knob, you'll have to go to TVR - they manufacture them in house themselves.

Thanks chuckh and thb all good advice and I'll give her a go - does seem awfully tight, hope there's nothing the shaft is connected too I can damage???

Anyone know if the gear lever shaft has a standard thread size - I notice in Halfords they have a spherical titanium number that will look about right but don't want to shell out the £50 or whatever if there's a chance it won't fit - any ideas??
