Headlights are everyone's headlights this bright?
Discussion
Both my sealed unit lamps packed up shortly after I got my MK1.
I replaced them with headlams that I could replace the bulbs in the future. A quick trip to Halfprds and I bought extra bright bulbs for it. I chose white but could have had either a yellow or blue tint to them. They are 30% brighter than the originals and they don't half light up the road. Only cost £50 for the replacements.
I didn't like the sealed units because I like to carry a spare bulb with me.

Lights on Mk2.5 are excellent, especially with Ring + 100% bulbs! - best lights I've had for many years since I had a Rover P6 (but that was cheating. It had 4 headlights, all with 120W bulbs and 2 200W Rally Giant spot-lights. You could feel the heat from them 10ft in front of the car
)
)Here it is!

I really wish I'd kept that car. It was lovely to drive, comfortable but surprisingly good handling, loads of space for 4 people, quiet and comfortable at a 100mph cruise (in the handbook it said they were designed to cruise at 100mph!). It was a 2000TC with a bored 2200TC engine so had plenty of poke - quicker in fact than the 3500
Anyway, sorry for the thread hijack, just reminiscing with my rose-tinted history glasses on

Just had the lights out.
And they are definitly sealed units.
Thats 17 years on one bulb. Not bad.
Are these the best ones to replace with?
Any other optioons?

Very interesting thread BTW as both the wifes MX5 and my Quantum have terribly bad gloworms for headlamps.
