Cerb Trip 2011

Nothing like an early start! 
Some of the conversation at Spa revolved around an alternative venue for the Cerb Trip, perhaps with a greater likelihood of good weather and Spain came up. It sounded interesting and so I thought I'd take a look.
The travelling distances are considerable, not least of which because most of the circuits are in the south of Spain, and the Ferries only run to Santander/Bilbao in the north.
The Ferry takes 24 hours, give or take, and in October with single occupancy is about £400 with basic cabin.
Traversing Spain from Bilbao to Jerez is a (googlemaps) ten hour stint, so probably doable by Cerbs in a day allowing for stops for lunch, petrol, etc.
Allowing for the T/D as well, we're talking a minimum five day trip (ferry, there, td, back, ferry) and a 1200 mile round trip within Spain.
Just sayin' like for conversation for next year...

Similarly I looked at Portugal - the track at Portimao, but didn't get as much detail as you Morebeanz. I'd be interested certainly, but not good on the water which would be a huge downside for me. Not sure I'd want to do the distance overland, track the car and then drive all the way home too.
I love the idea of fitting in two European Cerb trips next year - one of which I'd like to be Spa and the other Le Mans.

I certainly think there is room for two trips a year. It’s very disappointing if you wait all summer for the event only for it to tip it down in Oct ! Last yeah I opted to do Spa in June, as I thought I’d be “between jobs”, and it rained all day Mon, so coughed up and got out to play on the Tues.
The more seasoned would probably go on both, availability and cash permitting I guess, while others may pick and choose. I’d certainly be interested in both, depending on location though, as towing to further afield than say France/West Germany would be a bit tedious. Bristol – Dover is actually further than Dunkirk – Spa !
Yeah, OK I could take the Cerb and yes that would make to run down all the more fun, but for the TD, the racer is obviously built for the job, safer and easier to fix (if you happen to have an oooppps...feck...moment like I did last year).
How about somewhere like Dijon if Spa twice is not exciting enough ?

If peeps are worried about long mileage sandwiching a TD then you could always do (at least) one way on the Train.
If it gets organised then I think I'd probably do the whole drive (luck permitting) and stay in a couple of those nice Spanish country houses - Are they called Themodors or summat ?

Id be bang up for it again, as will chunder, however i will warn you, the run to Portugal is damn long, did it a while back, did the ferry to Bilbao, then drove all the way down to Lagos, which is only a little bit further than Portimao, i recon it would be a good 9 hours or so from ferry to track. However i did do this trip about 11 years ago... so im sure it has changed a lot.

Just looked at a Cerb, how i hate you lot for getting me into them, TC.... if i didnt realise i would fit i wouldnt be looking.
