Laid up for winter!!

After sorting a couple of things, and tidying up the garage so Oliver can be in dry storage over the winter.

How did you get the cover on the car Oliver and then get it him so close to the wall?

Only asking because I can't seem how to fathom out how to do this...

Need a helper - Put the cover on from front and rear from that side first - works for me

Dad drove him in with me behind telling him how close he is and how far he can go. Then I pushed him forwards slightly in Neutral to get the cover secured around the back of Oliver and then pushed it back to where it was and got the front of it on.

It is pretty simple to put it on as it has two elastic straps one on the front and one on the back, so I could put it on just by myself.The hardest part was having to squeeze past the front wing to get at the mirror bit.

Most winters there are plenty of days where it's dry and there is no salt on the roads. Personally I'd keep the car ready for those occasional jaunts rather than parking it up for 5 months....

My car wishes it could be laid up for winter, sadly the owner wants to keep using it.

Very Sensible, Fibreglass doesn't Rot with the Salt (might want to replace the chassis though!

Also plenty of power for pushing through the snow!



Being a TVR it will quit on you as soon as it sees a puddle anyway....

I actually used it in the snow earlier this year, including a run up to the PH Show at the NEC when it was quite thick.

That was rather foolish, and won't be repeated next snow fall. As you say, it's the chassis you need to worry about, and after the snow I had the chassis cleaned properly just to be sure.

I took my dads TVR for a "Spin" in the yard where we used to live, 3" snow ontop of Ice was great fun.

Its the bloody Salt on the roads that pisses me off, fks the paint, alloys, body/chassis etc

Oh and the gritting wagons that just pull into lane 2 on the motorway doing 50MPH

Or the gritting wagons that get stuck so I have to stop and move out of the way of their big yellow truck while they slide back down the hill.

...OK...so what sort of car is "Oliver"....IMO....cars are to be used all year round unless your "Oliver" is very prone to metal worm.....lets see a pic without the cover....and BTW....that cover does not look a breathable cover so you may be doing more harm than good.
