There was one behind me today nice bit of dual carriageway, the car in front moved over and I booted it in 3rd from about 50 to some number rather more than 50. The z4m is fairly quick in this range.

Was rather expecting the Golf to disappear into the distance (such things have happened from time to time) but it dropped off a car length or three and not much more.

Given that it has something like 160bhp/tonne and I have 240bhp/tonne, maybe a bit less as i had a tank full of supermarket 95ron crud..... but still....eh?

How much of a modifying scene is there with these things, surely a remap could only give it maybe 180/190bhp/tonne?

Objects in the rear view mirror appear closer than they really are?

Disclaimer: I most certainly was not racing, i was merely accelerating briskly in order to overtake a slower vehicle. Coincidentally the vehicle behind me was doing the same thing... at the same time.

Surprised me how much faster the GTi felt compared to a Focus ST as well

What does a remap give it?

Do they come with fancy gearboxes? I change gear in a fairly relaxed manner smile

I was impressed with it though, it kept up surprisingly well. I may have to reconsider my anti-VW prejudices hehe

DSG as an option (even though I still say it's rubbish) and 280-300 from an official Richter remap. My old GTFour wouldn't pull away from a 230bhp Edition 30 and it was putting out 282bhp.

Got DSG box on my TT with the same engine. Really makes the car, smooth and decisive, and much quicker than people expect.

Not as fast as the MK5 GTI Edition 30, those things are 230 stock and hit 300 brake after a remap! MK6 GTI is 210 stock, don't think it remaps amazingly well.

Well if it had 300 horses and a fancy gear box it's not that far off

According to google they are 1318kg which is rather less lardy than i'd assumed.

The Mk6 Golf remaps to around 250/260bhp, so no better than lots of other VAG products, but less than some such as S3s/Leon Cupra Mk2s/GTI editions 30s etc which can all get close to or more than 300bhp. At 50mph in 3rd your car was probably developing less torque and no more bhp than the Golf...

You're right, the Z is at about 4krpm (half way) so it's making about 200bhp when i put my foot down, which is well within the range

Mmm, probably should have been in 2nd tongue out

yes It was a white 3 door, on a 10 plate.

There is no way on earth it was anywhere near stock!
