FIA and UEM Championships - Who owns them ?
Discussion
Just been snuffling around Tierp's website and it made me ask myself a lot of questions that I realised I didn't know the answers to...
Can anybody help me out with some answers please ?
1. Who owns the rights to run/promote the various FIA and UEM championship rounds and who owns the TV rights ?
2. How much do those series or parts thereof cost an event promotor or track owner to bring to their facility ?
3. Understanding that Speedgroup does not own the FIA / UEM series or parts thereof, is its function like PRO in the US or does it have a different agenda ? If it has a different agenda, what is that agenda ?
4. My understanding is that one company owns the freehold or has a long lease on the Santa Pod site and another promotes the meetings, are these companies owned by the same individual or group of individuals ?
5. Similar question as number 4 but for Long Marston / Avon Park / Shakespeare County Raceway.
6. Similar question as number 4 but for York Raceway.
7. Understanding that SPRC and APIRA run meetings (by which I mean they staff and control meetings, not promote) at Santa Pod and Shakey respectively, how are those clubs and individuals qualified for that function ?
8. Reading some of the recent comments about the pros and cons of having extra rounds in the FIA / UEM series how can the crewing issues be got round if the series is extended ?
9. The FIA spec for an international drag strip is a bit sketchy ! Who controls all that stuff ?
That's enough for now !!!
Cheers

to save this turning into a guessing game filled with half truths, totaly wrong facts and all the usual experts having their say all of which can only serve to upset the various parties who im sure look here sometimes why dont you ask the speedgroupe ceo or Asa the question they are easy to contacy via there website which can be found on eurodragster, they will tell you of there role and there position far better than anyone else could,
as for santa pod Paula marshall will give you the facts regarding the sprc promoting their meeting and staffing the track
KB is a private man but i think if you asked the question of santa pod raceway as long as you asked nicely and explained why you want to know you would probably get answers,
and the same for the APIRC im sure someone would explain the deal,
obviously if any of the track officials would like to answer you on here then thats great

Good post Graham but as for #9 - see here http://argent.fia.com/web/fia-public.nsf/CBF155082...
1. Not entirely sure, possibly a mix of venue owners, Trakbak Racing Ltd. and Speedgroup AG.
2. Not a clue, and I'll probably never know.
3. Here
4. As far as I know Trakbak Racing own the site and promote the events, but there's some agreement with the neighbouring farmer.
5. Can't remember the site owner but Jerry Cookson is the promoter.
6. No idea who owns the land but I think most of the work is down to the Murty family and the PDRL
7. SPRC and APIRA are MSA & ACU recognised clubs and as such organise the event as far as racing goes including entries, permits, staff, etc. Clerks of the Course, Scrutineers and Timekeepers are licenced through the MSA and ACU. Same for Stewards but they are assigned by the governing body as opposed to the clubs.
8. Money, lots of it.
9. See above post.
