Going there for a long weekend, staying near the "Place de Republique".

Any recommendations for food/drink/sightseeing/blasts in the hire car etc?

Port vendres is a nice little fishing town just up the coast, the rest of the coast is a bit concrete. We sailed from there a few years ago, good memories!

Collioure is around 30min drive down the coast nice little town.

If you like rugby Perpignan have a rather good team and lots of rugby bars in the town.
