eek don't half make a difference to power. driving Been out for a couple of good blasts last few evenings & the dense cold air makes it feel 10% stronger at least.

MOT today too, so fingers crossed. readit

Hello mate.. i was trying to explain that a while back.. Alot of the time its the engine bay temperatures that effect performance..Heat sheilds and lagging around manifold helps..I have seen a CO2 kit that connects via a valve to the air intake and is linked to max throttle..People with modern cars use power chips but most of em cause the engine to burn lean..My old rover has a K&N and a cherry bomb..The K&N gave me 4 mph more in first gear which dont sound alot but is enough to notice a difference..Induction is a wonderfull thing if done correctly... Im looking into how they detuned my colonge engine as there is not a great deal of tunning available without taking off the injectors and fitting twin carbs..more air..more fuel..more power...or theres alway a remote turbo..

He he. Yep, always think there is a better response in the cool mornings, well, winter. Still think summer air is different. More moisture or something? Probably a load of old cobblers.

Plenum insulator helps for the rest of the year..

It is to do with air density which is higher at lower air temps. Turbo'd and Supercharged cars really get a benefit in colder weather, it is like having a second chargecooler smile

This was off the shelf with DJE at the time. He fitted it a few years ago now.

The Cologne is compromised by its Siamesed exhaust ports... no good getting more air in if you can't get it out.

I agree about the less than satisfactory port arrangement, but even my Capri 2.8i was noticably perkier on a crisp, cold winter night. I even once had a passenger comment that it felt better.

Turbo cars take even better advantage of it, as already mentioned.

I'm sure that's a JE unit, saw quite a few of them when I was last there.

Just to add, who ever supplies, yes I he did check the height first. Does not foul my bonnet but then the liner has gone for a walk.

My liner rubs on the plenum (just) so I shortened the trumpet base to compensate.

Nice cold air this morning - however I still managed to get my air intake temperature up to +112C!!!

This is the charge temperature after the blower, and rises massively on the overrun. Wide open throttle charge temperature was down to about 55-60C which is about 25C lower than in the summer.

After fixing the dodgy ignition lead it was pulling like a train!
