Car insurance question - help!
Discussion
Hi guys,
Looking for advice please.
I've bought a new car and am currently going about trying to insure the thing. I have just come off the phone from Admirmal and they have flagged up an incident that happened last year.
The incident in question was in a car park, when the car next to me opened their car door into mine which left a dent. The driver of the other car then quickly drove off. I took the number plate and phoned my insurance company that day to see if anything could be done. They said that as it would ultimately be my word against his, it would be very hard to prove either way and get sorted. I then decided to leave it there and sold the car a couple of months later. No work was done on the car and no damages were paid out.
This incident has now been logged on the insurance system and is now costing me approx £200 per year in premiums!
Is there anything I can do to remove this incident from the system as it seems very unfair?!
Cheers,
Simon

I'm guessing the incident flagged up on the CUE claims database as you were accepting the policy, unfortunately it can't be removed as the database holds the information of all REPORTED claims/accidents and incidents.
The incident still ocurred you just didnt claim for it unfortunately insurance statistical data shows you are now a higher risk than someonoe who has never been involved in any sort of accident or incident.
I can see this turning into a big insurance bashing thread.....again

Advise that the claim was for information purposes only and nothing was paid. If they still won't budge then ask for their final response letter that you wish to send to the FSA as you should not be viewed as a higher risk.
Its not Admiral that added it it was his previous insurer any policy he'll try and take out with any insurer will have the incident flagged up and the FSA will back the insurer up on the increase in premium when they see the statistical data showing he is a higher risk, it sucks i agree but thats the way it works.Edited by ZOLLAR on Thursday 14th October 09:44

Oh b*gger... this is not good news.
Looks like i am just going to have to take this one on the chin.
So the only thing I can really do is ask loads of companies and see how each of their underwriters view me as a risk?

re-do all the quotes with the incident noted and see which comes up at the best price, call the insurer explain the situation and see if you can negotiate on the price, but unfortunately that incident will affect you for the next 3/5 years depending on the insurer.Gassing Station | General Gassing [Archive] | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
