Installing PCM 2

Hi all,

I have a 1999C4 with PCM1. Anyone know if it is an easy job to install PCM2. i.e. is it a case of removing out the old unit and the new one slots in?

Don't know if there is much to doing the change, but is there any notable benefit? other than releasing an empty DIN slot infornt of the gear stick.

PCM 1 is quite basic, I was under the impression PCM 2 was far better. Also it takes PCN (i.e. Orange) sim cards

Not doable as I understand it. The new fibre-optic-thingummy loom means the old stereos/PCM systems don't work in the new cars and the new stereos/PCM2 systems don't work in the older cars.

I find the Sat Nav on PCM 1 quite basic. I hate the colours (purple line for route), which I struggle to distinguish and I find the routes dodgy! For example put "prefer motorways" and it takes me off a motorway etc.

Another example, time to destination: This never gets it right - it assumes you go 30 in a 30 etc. What about traffic lights? A good speed in a 30 zone is actually 20, and systems like BMW deal with this.

All small issues I know, but I thought if I fine one on e-bay I'd pick it up (if it fits)

I came from using a BMW system and found it a lot better.

No can do. rip it out and buy an aftermarket sat nav system instead
