Boot opener with door release button

The company that's fitting a new stereo system in my Chim says they can fit a device that can open the boot without the hassle of having to turn the ignition on and use the boot release button.

Seems to work via the door release button (held for a few seconds more after the door opens).

Anyone had this done and is £90 (fitted) too much?

Take a look at Mod-wise.com they do a boot release kit for around £28 to fit yourself. I have the 2-stage cooling system from mod-wise and very happy and will be purchasing the boot release myself, plush a push button start once I figure out where I can mount the push button. David Beer (Mod-wise) is a very helpful guy and a TVR fan and knows his stuff when it comes to TVR electrics he has helped me out on numerous occasions, I think you will find that other TVR owners on PH's have used David's products and been very happy too.

Bear in mind this is from someone who has been driving for a week now with no dash lights wondering where the fuse is.

Can i ask if it is the dashboard lights fuse?? just check the dash lights button is pressed....

Under the dash on the left hand side of the steering wheel incase you didnt know.

It was, and I didn't even know that switch existed.

Any other gems? I only found the two compartments behind tbe seats at the weekend (whilst vaxing the carpets after getting the water leaks fitted)!

think that Fernhurst also do this mod, i guess it is very useful if you have it but for £90, it is a bit too steep...worth checking out how much Fernies will do it for?

I had it done when I had a new Cobra alarm fitted to the Griff. £40 extra IIRC. Well worth it.

Theres the switch for the dashboard lights - well most of the dash board lights.

Advice on the mod-wise boot option... Surfing around the regional TVR car club sites I found a very good set of pages on the Surrey one (www.tvrcc-surrey.co.uk/). Follow the link to the articles section. There is a well illustrated description of fitting the mod-wise boot kit as well as leven bits, air filters and other things. Okay its mostly for a Griff 500 but still useful.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't like the idea of a long push on the door button opening the boot. I don't want it to be open for anybody that knows how. (I rarely set the alarm at meets/car shows/etc. if the roof is off as there's always someone who sets it off by leaning in to look).

The mod-wise job sounds like a better option to me.

For that price you could get the remote boot release, LED boot light and the bonnet stay from mod-wise. I've got all 3 and very impressed with the product and technical help from David.
