No lets kick it some more.
I for one am glad its dead, bringing TVR back with a russian owner, american engine and factory in germany or whereever hardly screams British sports car.
Look lets face TVR could never compete in the 2010 soon to be 2011 market place, it's death was martyrdom for making the models classics the best we can really hope for.

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusssssssssssssssss, another thread bound to go round, and round, and round, and round in circles. Personally, they might as well archive General TVR Stuff and Gossip and then just concentrate on the model and owner forums.
NS has destroyed the little credibility he had left by promising something, then delivering nothing, for the umpteenth time!!! All these supposed partners he's working with, that then pull out and run away rather bloody quick, must tell you something about the current shape of TVR's re-launch.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see them rise again, but its got way beyond the joke now.

Hahahaa yes that does all help, thank you. I hadn't heard anything since the rumours of TVR's being given American engines and being built in Italy or Germany?
Interesting though, weren't a small amount of TVR's made in Malaysia or somewhere like that? Im sure I read that on TVRCC website one time.

Yes there Was a Factory making Chimaera's just outside KL. They won the 12hr race at Sepang in 2000/01IIRC the factory closed about 2005

Hmmm Were any of these sold within the UK? Or was it (perhaps obviously) sold to every other country? I only ask because it would mean that TVR were technically entirely British, and therefore that might take some of the sting out of the idea of cars being produced outside of the UK. Even though,it's not quite the same because TVR's were predominantly produced in the UK.

Just checked on Companies House, and although there are lots of TVR companies registered, including TVR Limited...
TVR Cars Ltd is not registered by anyone.
Would it be too difficult to get a number of the old-school Blackpool brigade together and start something going?
TVR is a registered Trade Mark, so not sure how to get around that one.
Maybe TV Racing? TV Racing Ltd also available.

I don't know if anyone else ever heard this or whether there is anyone from the factory who could confirm or deny?
It was one of several cheeky things that occured during its history.

So whats cheeky about moving part or finished product between a closing plant and one that is continuing ? IRRC The Malaysian factory was a wholly owned TVR subsidiary, servicing the market. If all the bits moved are similar spec there is no issue.

In an attempt to search out new export markets, in 1998 TVR opened a new factory in Port Kelang, just outside Kuala Lumpar Malaysia. This factory produced only Chimaeras and whilst there was a burgeoning home market for them in Malaysia, most of their production went overseas to Australia, Japan and |south Africa. Interestingly, some were even alleged to have been shipped back to UK to meet the growing demand in the European market.
