I'm getting a woodburner installed and want to extend the current tiled bit back in to the new hearth. Trouble is I have no idea where to start looking for some matching tiles. These seem to be about 7.5" square by 1" thick, anyone even know what material they are to give me some idea where to look?

Even if you find the same type, they'll be a different batch and you'll be able to spot the difference between old and new, which would bug me no end.

As it's a very small area, find something similar and redo the lot.

Hmmm, good point on matching them. They've quoted for the full job including a limestone slab cut to fit, or say they can fit tiles if I supply the tiles, think I might just go with the slab as tiling's not really going to save a lot.

They call it 'tumbled' - which gives the rounded edges.

If the wood burner is for anything but occasional use, those tiles could be a nightmare to keep free of ash/soot etc.

Surely something with a matt finish like that would be easier to keep clean than a shiny finish though as any ash/soot comes up with the hoover and it won't show smears like a smooth finish?

Not easy to See from the picture, but could be Mexican honey Saltillo terracotta.
It would be virtually impossible to match it I'm afraid.

Re sealing, use a product called hg golvpolish- clear Matt finish, applied in 2 coats.
If you want gloss, go for hg Gloss.
