Hi you lot,

It's RAC / AA renewal time again (last year I was covered by AA, which came free with either a bank account, or a sat nav, I forget which). I have been offered RAC roadside+recovery for 40 quid, which I reckon is a decent option. before i get the credit card out again, do any of the other PH skinflits have a better deal than i've found (blackcircles.com cashback job)?

I believe the advantage of RAC breakdown cover is that it is with the member, not the car so you are covered when a passenger in someone else's car.

I am with Green Flag because it comes with the nodding dog...............Ohhhh Yessss!

Not sure exact prices, but Autonational Rescue are usually much cheaper than the 'big' names. My mum's got the full works on two cars for 80odd quid. Also much, much better service we've found than Green Flag who were the chosen ones previously

Anyway, comes with the top level of AA cover, plus a load of other stuff (travel insurance, phone insurance etc).

This applies to both the AA and the RAC. For both organisations you're covered even as a passenger in someone else's car.

RAC here.....I've only used it a handful of times and not at all in the last 5 years (touch wood)

but well worth having just in case



Edit to add = I used it 3 years ago, to get me home on one of my bikes when I had a puncture 10 miles from home

Better getting a packaged current account these days if you only want basic breakdown cover.

Mine comes with :

1. Worldwide multi-trip travel insurance for two adults
2. AA Breakdown Cover
3. AA Accident Management - assistance in arranging the repair, recovery and claim processing
4. Mobile phone insurance at home and abroad if your mobile phone is lost, stolen or damaged
5. Home emergency cover
6. Card protection
7. Travel accident cover in the UK or abroad

£12.50 a month public price, get a salary paid in to the account you get £5 a month, effective cost £7.50 a month.
