Hi,

Was wondering if anyone could recommend where to go for advanced driving skills. Checked out IAM but not really what im looking for - im looking more for improving my skills for driving hard.

If your a bit of a novice then I can recomend motorsport events academy days. look at cornering breaking car balance etc.

Also Andrew Walsh car limits is also good but i don't like the north weald grounds for the Noble.

Do a track day with us next year ,most of the TDO will supply on track coaching for a sensible fee !!i always start the year with a hours instruction to get rid of any bad habits !!!

Hi Blangs , we generaly do 5 or 6 trackdays including the main weekened which is a mega roadtrip to The Ring and Spa at the end of June took 11 Nobles last year !!! keep an eye on forum details will be posted as we get them !! Tux

Really depends on what you want track or road?

John Stevens is a legend in car craft and race craft he is not really known outside racing circles but trained the likes of Coultard F1, Mikka Hakinen, and many more he will meet you at any track and give you as many hours as you pay for and he is not exspensive plus he makes you understand.

If you're driving hard on the road, you should still give IAM or RoSPA a call because they'll still teach you a load of good stuff.

If you think about it, the key thing to improve for road driving is your observation and hazzard management. They might not condone high speed stuff, but it can all be applied the same when you're out on your own.

I'm currently going after my RoSPA gold and then will progress onto HPC when I'm ready.

Well IMHO IMHO IMHO IMHO

I think the OP needs to consider some IAM / RoSPA training. Track training will make him much more confident behind the wheel, which when applied back on the public road could be a bit of a hazzard.

You need to be able to predict what's coming up or at least see some warning signs if you're going to be doing the kind of speeds I like to do when you're out on a blast.

I'm certainly not saying you should pick one type of training over the other, but they're both very important when you start pushing on.

I rode a 125 scooter around when i was 17 for a year (still embarrassed about that even now) and im sure it taught me all i need to know about watching for signs on the road! im sure other proper bikers would agree?

having driven a hell of a lot of miles on the track over the last 2 years i can recommend track driver training. i buy into the fact both road and track driver training have merits but theres no way you can practice being on the edge of grip on the road. on the track you can practice dealing with braking too hard, and locking the wheels up, in a straight line. braking on a slight bend and the car getting out of line, oversteer from the throttle etc. you cannot get close to these situations on the road in a safe way, having said that im sure we all have :-).
