Hi

Just a tech question before I take a hammer to the column!

I have the Ford steering column on the SEAC I know it adjust's up and down, but does it go in and out as well (I like a bit of in and out.)

Yes it does, it was designed on the Granada to be adjustable for reach as well as rake but the reach adjustment is not made use of the wedge. If you take the steering column cowling off you'll see the travel it has (next to where the lever is that you use to adjust the rake). The limiting factor is therefore the steering column bulkhead bearing - if you loosen off the normal adjuster and push/pull hard you'll be able to get some movement - just make sure that the steering column bearing is still positioned correctly afterwards and that the top steering column UJ is not fouling on the bulkhead (under the wheelarch).

I've had three Wedges with the Ford column & they all had/have reach adjustment. Just lower the leaver & lift/push/pull as you want. Although with 400SE there was no leaver I had to undo the bolts underneath.

You can just take the straightforward approach but the TVR design is such that you risk either pulling the plastic bulkhead bearing out of it's housing or having the steering column UJ resting right against the bulkhead hence my warning that it needs to checked afterwards. The above assumes that you're pulling the column toward you - if you're pushing it away from you all should be OK.
