bonet not opening

hi guys can any one help in wanting to service my v6 s3 but the bonet wont open on the drivers side the passenger side seems ok but the drivers side will not release cheers

sometimes it works if you push the bonnet down a bit on the catch while pulling the release handle.

Is it totally jammed and not moving at all or has it kind of half-popped ? If the latter then you might be able to pull it horizontally one way or another to align the pin with the hole/catch.

If all else fails you might need to loosen the bolt on the hinge to allow full movement.

Try holding the corner of the bonnet by the drivers door and pushing firmly forward. If it keeps happening you'll need to adjust the bonnet. Have fun.

I had this problem while adjusting my bonnet some time ago. I got the bonnet open by getting my daughter to pull and hold the release lever while I used brute force and ignorance to 'move' the bonnet around until it popped open.

Once open then put masking tape over the latches in the front wings. Then lower the bonnet onto the latches, without latching it. Lift the bonnet again and the catches will have witnessed onto the masking tape so you can see where they are hitting. This makes it easier to adjust the catch without getting the bonnet locked closed again.

Might be worth checking the bonnet hinges to make sure that nothings come loose down there giving a variable bonnet close position each time.
