PS3 - Help

Morning (just)!

Be given a PS3 to have a play around with for the time being, not a techy person at all when it comes to Consoles, so I am a bit lost. I can't seem to start a game.

I turn it on, disc in then log in. From there it takes me to a menu with Users, Settings, Game, System Update, network etc etc.

I assume to start playing, it would be obvious and probably under the "Game" section. It appears not (unless I am doing something wrong!). Game is GTA 4 is that makes a difference.

Any help appreciated.

Should be under game.

The disc should show up under 'Game', yes. There will either be an icon of a blue disc with 'GTA4' next to it, or a proper game-related icon, with the full name of the game.

Default settings have the PS3 boot the game when you put the disc in though - if you're not experiencing any of this, then it might be a bad disc/problem with the PS3

Take the disc out and give it a clean.

When you put it back in it should show as a disc in the game menu (Main ps3 menu)

Try another disc and see if that works. Sometimes it can be a dirty disc.

Just did that then. Have 2 discs and neither seem to want to work.

Can you put a movie on? (DVD, B-Ray disc)

Have you tried logging in first, then inserting the disc? It should start automatically that way.

Thanks for the help everyone. Tried putting on a DVD, didn't work. Tried logging in and then putting in a game, didn't work.

Console could be buggered?

Bluray drive is fried! It is possible to replace them if your tech savvy. Ebay it otherwise!

I had this problem with my 40Gb model. Sony very kindly swapped it for an 80Gb model for me for no extra charge as it was still in warranty.
