Griffith Heat shields

I have a 93 Griff 4.3 with cat. At the recent TVRCCNA meet one of the two US owned Griffs [1999] was there and it had shields over parts of the headers and near the alternator- looked like they were made of aluminum or stainless with a softer heat resisting material on one side. Are these available or if not does anyone have a set they are willing to part with?

Thanks for the constructive suggestions re heat shields. I can't thank the members who digressed and made my inquiry a chat room about subject[s] not of any interest to me. I still would like to know if anyone out there in Griiffith-land has any heat shields available to protect the alternator and other electrical bits. I'm not interested in knowing about who is buying what, and why, etc. pmonty

That's the trouble with forums I'm afraid, you just have to put up with it.Mind you Griff owners have very short attention spans
Back to the OP; Get some thick card for a template and some sheet metal and make
a bespoke item for your car.
You don't really need a heat shield for the alternator. I replaced mine this year, the bearings were worn out and it was the original unit. So that didn't suffer from the heat.
The bit you will have problems with is the Ignition Amplifier. If that is a big issue either carry a spare (I now do after having had one fail in France) or move it up to the dizzy bracket which is where the later cars have it.
I doubt a heatshield will help that much to be honest. Surely it creates more of a heat trap when the car is parked and stops airflow when you're running.
I pop the bonnet every time I park to stop the heatsoak.
Like has been said already, if you are insistent on the heatshield idea, make a cardboard template and find a metal shop, most will bend some ali sheet for you for a few quid.
Don't worry about Quinny, he has become a proper Victor Meldrew recently. But if you are wanting help on here you could do to tone your comments down a bit. The Griff (and I hate to say it, the Chimaera) forums are more of a community than just a forum, so we enjoy the opportunity to have a chinwag when we all resurface as the nights draw in and we start to think about the winter maintenance jobs.
