What should the maximum boost show on a 2001 TT?
I would be very interested in a quick survey from fellow owners. (in bar please)

It should be a maximum of 0.8 bar, but this a maximum as it will vary according to atmospheric conditions.

The manual says 0.8bar I've not seen more on the dash (mind you I have mine set to fuel). Why what do you get?

Hi

I have the X50 upgrade and I have seen 0.9 bar....but only if you floor it quickly...slow depression of go pedal just gets you 0.8bar...

Good luck

Most I have seen is 0.7bar. Obviously my atmospheric conditions are not right

I have been for a ride in an X50 996 that occasionally shows 1.0 bar...

i understand that 0.8 is constant boost, but under acceleration they can reach a peak boost of 1.0 before settling back to 0.8

maybe not too many owners get the chance to take their eyes off of the road to check the guage under maximum acceleration

Depends on how long the runway is...

On a long runway it would spend most of it's time at 0.8 surely ?
I thought it was a matter of a couple of seconds at peak 1.0 boost...
i am sure he version I speak of was standard. An ecu remap could surely alter these boost timing characteristics.

Mine only goes to 0.7, I've tried loads of different driving techniques and I never see more than that.

X50s will have more boost as they have bigger turbos.
Need more power! Have to take a trip to a tune shop!

I haven't got a clue. With my X50 on road I've seen 0.9, Adamt tells me he briefly saw 1.1 bar on my car at Brunters, again I wasn't looking (not the recent VMAX but the previous event).

Sorry mate, I don't tend to look at anything whilst making "real" progress other than the digital speedo, the revs and where we are going. I imagine the early morning blast up through the countryside to Brunters would certainly have have seen 1.0 bar!

I've seen 1.3 in cold damp conditions, but only for an instant......... it's usually nearer 1.0 under constant boost.

A little confused guys, there are so many different variations between you all on your boost pressure. I've had my car for almost two years now and not modified - always use Optimax(if relevant or not)and have never seen more than .6 bar under heavy right foot action on damp/sunny/cold etc..........just had a major service too and still .6 bar - - HEEEELP PLEASE...is there something wrong with my boost or my car or could it be a dodgy boost reading???

Sounds normal, to me I don't think I ever saw above 0.7 on my car prior to certain happenings.........

ps apparently the guages are pretty accurate up to 2.0 bar

Ok Guys....

The Bible (AKA, Porsche 911 Story by Paul Frere) states the the max boost on std 996TT is 0.8 bar

The GT2 has a max boost of 0.9-1.0 bar, so I assume that the X50 has the same, as it uses the same turbos etc

Hi Daz, apologies for the login, I had my computer rebuilt recently and somehow it picked up my old PH account, so I'll be rectifying that asap. Regards warranties etc. Not that I'd know, you understand, but I'm lead to believe that when a car is chipped there is no obvious change to the casual observer, in fact apparently an OPC can't even tell by plugging in their laptop, as all the original details remain on the ECU (ie serial numbers etc etc.) the obvious way to tell I guess is to go and thrash the thing and look for differences in boost pressure etc. However my car's been back for minor warranty niggles and they've been sorted without any mention, so search me.........plus I'm not sure I'd be that happy if a dealership was thrashing my car around the place without my permission or knowledge! thus to answer your question the normal aftermarket warranty covers the flux capacitor.............
