Nice cars - worth having?

Well my scirocco has been bumped this week for the third time in about 8 months. Not massive damage but bad enough, none of the bumps have been my fault and have been sorted by other parties insurers.

Thing is now its got me thinking of just selling up and getting a snotter, max value about 5k for my daily driver. I am sick of peoples lack of respect for others property and generall poor driving standards. So would it be a good idea to sell up now when my car is still worth maybe 16k + and buy a boring day to day car?

I have a vx 220 for sunny days and runs out so there seems little point in having a car just for idiots to damage as i go about my daily business.I would just pay any excess cash of my mortgage.

Am i mad to think this?

Nah, perfectly reasonable. Can get a lot of snotter for £5000 too.

Nope, not mad at all. I chopped in a £12k Lancer for a £4500 Mondeo.

I don't mind getting a few bumps, I don't mind leaving it parked in the supermarket carpark, and I don't mind dumping a load of building materials in the back. Best thing I ever did.

So i think when it gets its latest little injury repaired i might look to sell on when residuals are still goood. They have only been cosmetic incidents but a pain in the ass all the same.

I hate when people set the budget for a snotter at anything over £300; makes me feel poor.

For £5k I'd be looking at an X308 XJR.

£5k will buy you a lot of second hand car, especially if you prefer fuelling thirsty petrol engines instead of depreciation.

the first two i was not even in the car, the car was hit by other drivers whilst parked perfectly legally.

The latest i had stopped to allow a car in front to complete a 3 point turn, i was about 10 yards behind him, he finished the turn and then he decided he wanted to be further back down the street. Into reverse, no mirror check, foot to floor, bang straight back into my car.Full liability admitted as he was so stupid he couldnt do anything else!!!! just lucky it wasnt a kid crossing the road he hit instead of my car.


So how could any of those be my fault?

i dont have loads of money I just have always brove reasonably new cars. No i am starting to wonder why.
