Yesterday saw the final dénoument in the tragic saga of the Team Pescarolo when the liquidator placed the whole of the company under the hammer. Two cars without engines, tools, moulds and tragically all his trophies, the latter with a reserve price of but 2,000€. The whole estimated at but a mere 250,000€.

Then two knights in shining armour, the owner of OAK racing and another from Magny Cours stepped forward, made an offer of 400,000€ for the whole company which was quickly accepted by the liquidator. Then a moment of intense emotion when they handed the keys of the company back to Henri.

Let us hope that we will again see the Pescarolo cars - even just one as Henri himself hopes for this year - on the track in June 2011.

That's simply superb!

My everlasting memory of Pescarolo will be their pitlane coming together with the Peugeot in 2009 when the Peugeot waved their car out, straight into the incoming Pescarolo car. I've some great pics of that and the damage afterwards.

Will be good to see the team back in action. thumbup

ETA: pics

Damaged Peugeot - due to their own stupidity!

Can't find the Pescarolo images at the moment....

Anyway, will be good to see the man in charge again, hopefully in time for Le Mans 2011

Excellent news.

I missed them last year as the nearest private entrant providing any hope of competiton to the Audis.

Nice one - always nice to see when things, eventually, work out for the good guy.

And fingers crossed we see a Pescarolo on the grid next year - I suspect it would be a cold day in hell when the ACO can't find a way to give him an entry... wink

Remember Henri is very popular... did anyone see and hear when he ran down the grid just before the start of the race in June?

It is really good to hear that Henri will be back, and let us hope that he will remember to be careful who he lets buy into the team this time, however he will need some very generous backers if he wants to be competative in 2012 let alone 2011.

However fingers gross and pesca shirt ready and waiting for his return

I notice that poor ol' potless Henri (who must be the most miserable personality in all of motorsports) didn't put his Twin Squirrel helicopter up as collateral then......

Hmm, I am sure that you are well acquainted with Henri (living in Orlando as you do) and like me you see him every week then. I get absolutely furious when I see comments like this from people who have never been within 200 yds of the man, or in your case 4,000 miles perhaps, let alone talked to him. "Motor racing is dangerous", that we see everywhere, but no more so than to your wallet. Henri, as a multiple times winner of Le Mans, who nearly paid with his life for his love of endurance racing and which has left him with a deformed face after the fire, has earned the right to put money aside and ringfence it from his everyday life.

Not that actually has any bearing here, since he sold the company two years back, lock stock and barrel, to Jean Py and then was sacked as a director a few months later and has had no involvement for over a year. So he had no financial involvement whatsoever, but he had the right to protect his retirement as has the next man. Would you, at 67, put your life on the line in this financial climate to kickstart a bankrupt company you sold a while back? Yes, of course you would, being a first grade prick with no actual knowledge of the person or situation, but then we expect that on the internet don't we? Everyone is an expert, but which definition of ex-spurt do you wish to use? I know which one springs to mind.

So before you criticise someone who is considered a hero here, who has struggled to give employment to many people, who is as approachable as anyone I've met, who is personable and whose love of racing shines through, get a life, get to know the man in person, and learn to bite your tongue and listen before commenting. Your profile and the cars you own and have owned show you as somewhat of a lightweight in comparison to our Henri.

I rest.

Wow - clearly touched a bit of a nerve with you - presumably nobody is permitted an opinion that doesn't jive with yours then.

I am by no means a Le Mans afficianado like yourself. I have attended a mere 29 editions of the race (nothing, compared to your dedication, I'm certain) and was grateful to have witnessed his last win in '84. As a driver, I thought he was stellar, and afterwards was looking to him to pick-up the reins where Jean Rondeau had sadly lost them, as the ambassador and gritty privateer constructor, much loved by sportscar fans.

My problem with Pescarolo is that he whinges too much. No, he's not a personal friend - I have met him twice (both times at the circuit, where he clearly had other things on his mind), but he certainly was not the affable, affectionate character you describe.

I just wished he would have looked at trying to find a way to win other than pissing and moaning to the ACO in an attempt to get the rules changed to better suit his team and equipment.

I most profoundly apologise for not having the financial means to own a stable of cars that would somehow give validity to my opinions and views. If you re-read your angry diatribe, it makes you sound quite irrational. Now I know this isn't the case, because I've bantered with you on other Le Mans related forums and you come across as a knowlegeable, humorous and balanced enthusiast - so why the petulant little girl you appear to be here?

You are correct, I do now find myself a long way from Le Mans (though my parents live conveniently close by - about 70kms to the south). The extent of my interest in the race, the history and the occasion motivates me to make an annual 8000 mile round trip, at no small personal expense for the privilege of being there.

I'll be there again next year, as usual. By then, hopefully you will have buried the hatchet and I can buy you a beer - if not, you can have the opportunity to say what you really think of me to my face wink
