starter switch

Sorry don't have a part number for you but not surprised it has failed.
Many before you have found the switch to be hot when it had been on for a while. I have re-routed all my Ignition switched circuits (White wire) via a relay to overcome the problem.
Polevolt Part No. 34970 £11.98
Vehicle Wiring products T773 £15.75
Stafford vehicle Components £16
The Polvolt one looks all you need.

thanks Steve. The problem started when I noticed that when I turn on the ign the REAR brake lights (mine are LED's) stared to glow. I am getting about 3.5 volts, obviously a bad earth, checked the Ign switch but not sure if its the problem. Slight earth issue! but only the rear brake lights with ign on? could be the brake switch I guess? (in line fluid one at the rear...) What do you think? Many before you have found the switch to be hot when it had been on for a while. I have re-routed all my Ignition switched circuits (White wire) via a relay to overcome the problem.

The old earth fault problems came about when the earth was bad so a bulb earthed back through another filament in the same bulb, across the car and earth through another lamp.
LEDs only pass current in one direction so this cannot happen.
If you have a glow then power is going to the LED and can only come from the brake switch or a short to another live wire.
The ignition switch will not be the culprit.

yep ta, agree - checked the brake switch and its sticking slightly on... I think lots of people have problems with these. I will order one as well as the ign switch due to the fact I took the old one apart to "fix" it. After most of it pinged agross the garage I decided a new one was a good idea!LEDs only pass current in one direction so this cannot happen.

thot: I know that it will be a pain, but my experince with the hyd brake switch says its not worth fixing. On mine anything less than standing on the brakes and the switch does not close, therefore no brake lights. I plan on changing mine to an electrical switch soon. Just a thought and wondering if many of you have had the same issue. Lee
