Travelling down south today I stopped off at the Warwick service station on the M40 and spotted this. The pictures are a bit of a rush due to the fact that as soon as he saw me, he scuppered. There were two of them, silver and black, but I only spotted the black one way off in the distance joining the M40 after being followed by his friend in the silver one. Both left hand drive and had a nice grumble to them. It was hard to hear from the distance I was but there was an awesome sound coming from them as they joined the M40.
On the lower left sill it read "VP15 Prototype"

I'm sorry about the watermarks and small size but it's a force of habit, plus, I don't know how unseen this car actually is as a Google result didn't prove very fruitful! Also forgive the tree; I've never ran and taken photos at the same time, it was difficult to say the least with a bulky camera!

Also, sorry if this is in the wrong thread! I'm new here. I will eventually link to higher resolution images once I've done some more research, if anyone wants them that is.

Danny,
If you managed to get that info then the plate for the black one was JWG at the end.

It's the last image. I only got one image of it as I wasn't aware that it was even there, it must have filled up or something. I was aware of the AskMID website too but didn't like the sound of "I understand it is an offence to wrongfully obtain information of this nature without reasonable cause" - I thought I'd let you do the dirty work, lol wink

You make one post on average every two and a half years. That's remarkable.

Haha oh well, if anyone asks it's an easy mistake to get the Mclaren's reg mixed up for T620 KWG wobble

Sounds fair enough. 40% of your total contribution for the last 10 years have been made in the past half hour.

VP stands for Validation Process, they're near production spec test mules. The number just denotes the car number, i.e: The second car was likely to be VP14/VP16.

Nice! Thank you very much for that. I suppose I didn't look at the McLaren website as it was "too obvious"!

I should imagine it would have been a bit more exciting to have caught a VP1 and VP2 car instead eh? lol
