7" light converstion

Who has done the 7" head light converstion on hear, tried search engine no joy,
simple questions like, do you need to upgrade the wiring, or change the pods, or is it just a case of just a bigger hole and stick in the new light in behind the glass.

any info or installation guide would be good.

I do not know much about it but it is Sportmotive that sell the kits, information below if you haven't found it already.

Call Ian at sportmotive for guidance, but they make a helluva difference.
The wiring is quite simple really, it has to be for me to fit them........
If you like, sportmotive will do a fitting service.

I have a 94 Griffith 500 delivered for the Australian market. I only recently noticed that my headlights (behind the fairings) are wired up so their main beam comes on as well as the standard main beam units in the front grill. I have never thought my headlights were particularly poor on country roads at night on full beam and now I know why. So if better lighting is the goal this might be an option.

Hmmm, all Griffs do this. The dip beam ( in the pods) stays on when the main beam (lower lamps) is switched on.

Yes,

I have dipped beam and full beam from the pods. When I activate full beam via the coulum switch I have 4 full beams plus the dipped beam.

Not a bad job... and well worth it... no wiring re-work as such... just a repay behing each pod so when the dip goes off, it swithches the mains on... Then you can do what you want with the lower lights?.
Kit was £350 as I remember.. Sportmotive as said before... just did a bit of tweeking of the pod to get the light angle low enough as it does tend to be on it's limits for adjustment... but that may be changed now...

I was a bit undecided about the look of the 7" lights compaired the originals but seeing the lights side by side in your car IMO the 7" upgrade does look much better. The originals almost look a bit lost in comparison.

The car looks great in the last photo. Out of interest may I ask what have you done with the spot lights?

It does make the car look better in my opinion... with regards to the spot lights... I have the original ones here to fit back at any time... but the ones fitted are based around the Tuscan 2 indicaror units and comprise of a Aluminium turned housing mounted onto a 3 pointed star rear that goes onto an adjuster plate with springs like the std units.. they have Ring £9.99 internals...
No real reason for doing this other than something to do a couple of winters back and keeping the others for best

Thanks.. here you go.. a couple of close-up's... when I took the spot's out for the re-spray... I thought the front was a very nice shape and it was a shame to mask it with the normal spots again.. so tried something differant.. may be not to everyones taste as the std units are a bit of a signature for the Griff.. but I like em.. (sorry for the poor lighting)

Cheers for the additional pics. I think the smaller spots are a good call. I have seen a few Griffs without spots and I am personally not that keen, as you say the spots are signature griff and IMO there looks like there is something missing without. The smaller spots however I think do make the car look more modern and accentuate the shape of the front grille, while still retaining the classic Griff look. Being able to revert back to the orignals at anytime is also good if you do ever change you mind about them. Very nice indeed
