the joys of french design!

I changed the oil earlier (clio 1.6rsi) which necessitated removing an ally heat shield from around the injector rail to fit a new (awkwardly placed) oil filter. due to said shield being a bugger to remove, in my haste I have broken one of the connectors from an injector - at the point where the injector meets what I assume is the wiring to the ecu. It's completely buggered and needs a new injector.

the car starts fine and seems to be running on all 4 cylinders, but is lumpy at idle and down on power (i took it for a 1/2 mile test). am i right in thinking fuel ia being delivered ok but isn't being monitored or metered correctly?

is it adviseable to drive in this condition? it'll be mon/tue until I can get a spare which means public transport - tripling my commute time to 3hrs - and I'll miss tomorrows malton meet as my e28 is still sans gearbox frown

I don't mind having to pootle everywhere, but don't want to cause any damage.

Shouldn't do any damage as no fuel is going into the cylinder and cat isn't getting unburt fuel.

It will be getting unburnt fuel as to the lambda sensor it'll be running lean, it'll be trying to flood the other 3 cylinders to compensate.
Don't run it.

will the power imbalance running on 3cyl not cause problems on the crank? I'm thinking big end bearing?

its a 100 mile roundtrip to either malton or work. I'd like to make the meet then take the train monday. what are the realistic chances of causing any damage in 100 miles if I keep below, say, 2500rpm?

eta - didn't see 3rd post. bugger.

think maximum you can drive is 50 miles , if you do more than a 100 it will need a oil change

Don't French ECUs switch to limp mode in these circumstances..?

I drove 15,000 miles in a Mondeo in limp mode. Bit of a pain in the arse, but no damage and now on 293,000 miles, two years later.

no idea. its a 2000 x plate if anyone does?

there are no warning lights showing on the dash. I'm resigned to missing the malton meet but hoping the only motor factor I know open on sundays will have a spare in stock.

thanks to the neverending rain and working late, i only managed to get the fuel rail off the car last night.

qn: my engine is a 1.6 16v, 110bhp. looking at parkers, this is the same engine as fitted to the megane coupe. will the megane rail therefore be compatible? i can get a new part for my car on 3-4 day delivery but being able to use the megane rail will give me more options when i go doen to the breakers at lunch.

also, there is a 90bhp version of the same engine. will this be ok to use? i guess the injectors will be smaller, but will this be a problem? i'm not bothered about losing a bit of power as i use the car for commuting so an improvement in fuel economy would be welcome.
