Brakes feel odd.

Hello guys,

I've had an issue recently whereby the brake travel seems to vary every time I press the pedal. I've read that this could be the hub nut but I checked them both a couple of months ago and all was well. Do I need new brake fluid?

It's really odd and doesn't inspire confidence when pushing on!

Anyone know what I should be checking? Thanks

I'm not sure, I left the service history in essex. Hmm, a quick look around (managed to do a specific Noble forum search) would suggest my exact symptoms are the hub nut. I will try to make it tighter, and get some Porsche ones ordered. Still not sure how that would make the brakes feel odd!

What is the size of the standard hub nut? I need to pop to halfords to buy a socket.

It will make the brakes feel odd as when the wheel moves on the loose bearing the disc moves with it, as the calipers are fixed to something else (obviously) the disc pushes the pads further away than normal, so when you brake you have to take up the slack created.
The further you travel without braking the more you will feel the need to pump the brake before getting full bite.

All sorted! Can't believe how much difference half a turn makes. Off to the porsche dealer tomorrow lunch time though, don't want this happening again.

Even with the Porsche axle nuts, I use a threadlocker (Loctite red), and torque to spec with a decent torque wrench.
