Bugger me, i move to the south and get two speeding tickets in as many weeks...!

Today on the A303 was overtaking a van just before the road changed from two to single lanes (they have a number of overtaking lanes for 'x' miles at a time). The last of these heading west has a camera.

I braked before the camera, even though i was in the outside lane. The van on my inside undertook me and the camera flashed. My speedo said 55mph as far as i am concerned through that stretch (limit 60 mph).

Am i going to get my second ticket in two weeks..? How can they tell who it was? As the van undertook me through the trap (i was ahead before, and he ahead after it) he must have triggered the trap surely..? Will they just assume it was me as i was on the outside..?

TIA

No need to act until and if you get the NIP!!!

The picture should show who was travelling faster - if not you'll need to become a detective and measure etc etc etc.

I seriously doubt you'll be done

The film from the camera will confirm that it was the driver on your inside lane who was speeding. You shouldn't have to worry if you were doing the speed you stated.

Yep, they compare your speed over the white lines with before and after photographs (rearward gatso). Mind you, don't know how that applies to forward facing truvelo's without road markings.

Just where on the A303?

I'm a regular & the only dualled bit with a camera is the steep incline by the A350 junction. (I think)

Most definately get the photographic evidence & get it checked if you get a NIP.

I wonder whether the other driver might find another charge added to his sheet - for undertaking?

I thought they could do nothing if there were 2 vehicles in the picture?

As far as I could tell, it was removed after that bloody great accident a couple of months back. However, it's back - so take it easy passing the lorries up the hill.

I wouldn't worry about it. I was in the car with a mate when we got flashed in a 30 zone. We were doing 31mph and a car coming the other way must have triggered the camera. I think they use the markings on the road to see who was speeding. Mate heard nothing. Still sts you up when it flashes though!

The camera at Chicklade is now back, and causing all sorts of panic braking. The next one further west is just after the Sparkford roundabout. Then the one that buffalo is refering to is towards the end of the Illminster bypass. All of these Scameras are able to distinguish between a truck and a car, something that came as a surprise to a shed load of truck drivers who had previously cruised past them on the limiter.
