Anyone go today? How cold was it?! Bloody freezing. Quite dull and dark too, a lot of photos didn't turn out because the light was so poor. I headed off about 3pm as I couldn't stand the cold any longer, but I wonder how bad the light got by the time the meeting finished!

Thoroughly enjoyed it though, especially the Classic Sports and Saloons. Warren Dunbar drifting his XJS round McIntyres was very entertaining. biggrin

As was John Marshall in his MK1 Escort, who lost it at one point when chasing down second place.

And the Datsun Z car which was flaming away regularly.

MINI Coopers were a bit chaotic as well. With this:

Great day racing. The classics are now better than ever with lots of variety on display.

Forget the weather and get up there next season.

Good day but bloomin cold

Shame Oly "chickened" out of last Mini race and did not go for the three wins citing did not want to risk damage to car for sale - so why race in the first two races?

LOL

He did not chicken out, he does not own the car and had no choice in the decision.

great day's racing and most of the children behaved well for finals day, was freezing cold with that wind. started nice at 8am it was lovely the sun was out and it was warmish. then the cloud came in and i think we were fortunate that it only rained for the last hour

cheers to everyone especially my fellow brothers and sisters in orange for all the graft and friendship over the season

I will honestly say that I was impressed with the driving standards in all classes yesterday, in the main it was clean and no nerfing for the fun of it, yes there was a fair few incidents but most were racing incidents and nothing malicious. the track conditions were not perfect as the very low track tempature would have made it almost impossible to get any heat into the tyres and when the heavens opened before the 2nd S&S race I was really expecting to see drivers in every gravel trap as most were on slicks but there was a tremendous amount of car control out there

I did notice quite a few legends using the rallycross route down the gravel at duffus, lads rallycross is next week lol had a laugh with legend 17 who parked his car so close to the tyres at post 5 he put it in the drainage ditch but a bit of muscle shifted it

I tried for ages to get that shot and in the end I missed the front of the car, so had to crop it so just the rear end was in shot!

Looking forward to seeing it on TV, felt sorry for the camera guy in the cherry picker at Butchers!

I was surprised at how busy it was yesterday, but the Vardy fun day had some influence on that.

great days racing yesterday apart from the weather.

totally gutted for mark robson in the second sports and saloons race though, ive been best friends with his daughter for a few years and we were down at duffers watching him fighting aaron for 3rd then seen him passing him at carlube on the last lap for 3rd and then coming into the last corner the tannoy system went down and then counting the cars coming over the line he had been tapped going into the hairpin losing third place frown

It was only partly to do with keeping the car in one piece.

Oly needed to do the first two to guarantee the overall drivers championship (cant remember the name of the trophy) the SMRC run with all drivers from all categories.
