There is a hissing noise coming from my MINI cooper when I release the brake pedal. Am I right in thinking this is the break servo on it's way out? The brakes seem in good working order other than this pain in the arse noise. Also can anyone give a rough price for having a new one fitted via indi garage. Thanks in advance. ( Appologies for the ste spelling of BRAKE in the title. Having not long woke up my brain isn't quite working yet )

Check for leaking hoses as usually there is a hose running to the inlet manifold so it could be this is split.

New servos are expensive depening on the what type you have fitted ( I think you can have them reconditioned) so maybe call round a few garages first and see what they say as it's isn't a difficult job maybe 2/3hrs work + the new parts £100 to £150 as a guess.

Brake servo's hiss is normal for its operation. Sometimes they are under the dash so you can hear the hiss more. If the brake servo was not working/had a leak you would have a hard time operating the brakes.
