I'm doing my final year project at Uni this year, and part of my research involves how people nickname their cars and why. If you guys can post up some nicknames if any you've given cars in the past I'd really like to hear them. If you have any pictures too that would be awesome!

Thanks
Sam

Car: Volvo 360GLS
Nickname: Smokey
Why: Dads old car, the numberplate was SMO58Y so as kids it was SMOkeY

Car: 106 1.5D
Nickname: Bianca
Why: Because it was in Bianca white and had it in big letters on the boot.

Car: Suzuki Swift
Nickname: Suzi
Why: Because I have no imagination.

Car: Landrover IIA 109 Utility
Nickname: Tilly
Why: I was told that a Landrover has to have a name and the plate is TYY so TillY. Was suggested TYrone but as Landies are tempramental and cost alot to run I thought a female name was more apt wink.

ETA - I'll try and post some pics later.

1.9 Bora Diesel - 'Jordan'

Because it's cheap, tatty, been round the block more than a few times and at any one point, could have up to 5 blokes in it.

I often refer to my Sagaris as "the slag". Also "sag", "saggy" or "saggy arse". No reason other than the fact they are all variations on "Sagaris".

My Clio Cup trackday car was nicknamed 'Nicole' after the Renault 'Nicole & Papa' adverts.

And the old girl was just a beautiful smile

Old clio was called boris.

Reg ended KGD so close to kgb, it was red, and to get the cd player to work i had to punch it. Every time. hehe

The freelanders have both been called Harry.

Dads mk4 mondeo is called the brick, which is a name i gave the mk3 one as it was burgandy and i thought it looked like a brick. I like the mk4 but the name brick, shall stay with it.
