Anyone see the full interview? I just caught the end of it as I came out of the shower...

Who was the muppet being interviewed in the studio? One of his last comments was along the lines of
some idiot said:
"If the BBC are willing to give airtime to the pro-car lobby (talking about Richard Hammond!), then you'll never be able to have a sensible discussion about road safety

WTF??? OK, I might have remembered the wording incorrectly, but what planet is he on? Sounds like desparation to me: "la la la la I can't hear you"

It was an incredibly weak argument. He accused Hammond of talking 'twaddle' rather than answer the points Hammond made (pretty well I thought).

The interviewer gave Hammond a hard time too compared to the studio guest.

The idea that people need to learn to drive more safely is simply lost on these people. Studio bloke kept blaming the "system" that allows people to drink drive and speed. Personally, I blame people.

People taking admitting their own faults? never.

If they cant find anyone else to blame then they will blame the system.

Whats also interesting is how people look for all sorts of blames (speeding etc) but none seem to be willing to accept that bad driving and poor driving education are the errors from which Britains drivers faults manifest.

I saw the 0640ish interview with the representative of the Road Safety Professionals Organisation or something. He talked about training, the environment and passive safety in cars and then spolit it when asked about speed. Whilst not directly saying 'speed kills' he did nothing to push the other side of the argument. These are the people with the facts to hand so why can't they make the points that Paul has been making for ages on SafeSpeed?

What a grade-A berk. I wonder what changes to the "system" he would propose in order to make it physically impossible to DD? Idiot.

what irritated me about it was the fact the newscaster kept on talking over hammond when he was trying to put his point across.

and the fact that the "twaddle" comment was aired, that was pretty much the speed kills jockey's "beaten but i'll still have a pop" comment...

sanctimonius bstards the speed kills lobby...

Didn't the prat also say that drink driving and speeding were the same thing?!!

Thought Hammond put his points across pretty well despite newscaster doing his best to talk over him.
