Well, it looks like the resurrected Bad 'bird will be the first UK turbocharged Pro Mod to hit the strip early next year, really looking forward to seeing what Rob & Nick at ICE Automotive will be able to achieve; I know there's certainly been a lot of homework gone in to the project already. What with their experience gained with Splinter's Street Eliminator car plus their track record with race cars on the strip and circuit, I couldn't imagine anybody better this side of the pond to tackle it. It's going to be a long process no doubt but I'm sure they'll get to grips with it, it'll be nice to see Nick "coming home" back behind the wheel of a Pro Mod car again too, as well as getting the Superbird back out there where it belongs. Interesting times ahead for sure!..............

That'll depend on when Andy gets RV3 finished and out on track...As for it being the future, without a doubt it's the direction the class is heading in. Turbochargers are way more efficient, can produce more boost and the power is infinitely more manageable compared to supercharged motors thanks to the wonders of EFI.
it is complete less engine and some wiring it has a can clutch and trans,
it will be ready to test by late jan/early feb as the intake is not due to arrive till then
remember this car will be using a billet hemi of the same type that it always run so changing to a twin turbo deal is prety easy the chassis design makes it far easier to fit turbos than a regular design chassis,
there are no intercooler or radiators to worry about the car uses the same clutch we already had in the car its realy not a big deal we have motors and spares, our set up will be simple and proven,
its gonna be interesting for sure

i didn't imply otherwise? to be honest, where blower motors are concerned EFI would be pretty redundant anyway...there's no form of boost control to worry about, the blower makes what it makes, and as they're designed to work on full throttle anyway, where would be the benefit over mechanical injection? if the engine needs x amount of fuel at full throttle, as long as it's recieving the correct amount of fuel then happy days. it's only now where turbo technology has come on strong where the requirement for a boost referenced fuel curve has become necessary. so yeah, mechanical injection is ancient technology, but it works and will continue to do so where superchargers are concerned

stifle innovation it may do but for us in the uk it has a hidden bennefit of keeping the costs on a sane level
instead of something technical and expensive we can have a glorified gas tap and bog systern for a fuel system ........

Exactly, stifling innovation.
lots of examples of that in drag racing rules, stifle innovation it may do but for us in the uk it has a hidden bennefit of keeping the costs on a sane level

Agreed,
but a bit bemused by your thoughts about Andy frost not being priced out of pro mod,
Id have thought Andy has a prety good budget ,brand new purpous built car which i know will cost a lot more than a regular pro mod car because of its dual role, along with lencodrive new billet heads latest efi system all the turbo gear and trust me i know what this stuff costs as i have it all ordered,
I dont actuly think Andy is a fair example of a low budget
if he went the race car only blown route he would have saved a ton of money, or as a drag racer just spent it on better engine parts and blowers,
Its his choice and fair play,
I think a real budget opperation in pm is Ian bishop, Mick payne wayne NICHOLSON (although wayne has now stepped up he has thrashed for years with inferior kit)
and even Kev slyfield who has run 6.5s and the car wasnt even a pro mod car to start with so is a compromise,
