The Ice warning light

According to my handbook its been bloody cold down my way since I bought the Griff!

Does anyones ice light work?

I dont really care too much for it but just wondered if they were always wrong.

I might have to speed up its random colour changing a little to make it useful.

Mine shows:

Red for HOT

Red for NOT TOO HOT

and, wait for it,

Red for ICEY

Drove mine in -4 at speeds on the motorway which would give significantly lower Temnps and it nevewr showed a thing ...

Perhaps all that heat generated up front clears the path of ice and snow ahead!

Drove it on sheet ice at a friends in their car park and was having to use 4th gear to park ...

Nearly had to push it out of the space as every time I used reverse it just went sideways ... hilarious really !

I think mine works. What's it meant to do? Perhaps a new use should be made up for it to impress passengers.

Thats just mould. You need to put the roof up!

Apparently it's a common problem (see the bible). It is indeed an ice warming sensor (so no wonder it's on all the time in our climate). It's located in front of the nearside front wheel, and fails regularly. You will need to replace it. The bible tells you how.

...and doesn't change colour through that salmonny pink to green! That was my symptoms IIRC.

Mine should be hot enough by now - it's been on for two years!

My manual says

5 c or less = Green
2 c or less = yellow/orange
0 c or less = Red

Ok 1 degree different to yours Al OH but saying that cant think i have ever seen the yellow/orange light.
Seems to go straight from green to Red but does seem to work ok otherwise.

Buy the way I think at these types of Temps you would know its cold by the Icicles dripping of ones nose if you have the roof down.
