Which HT leads

So advice on the last service was the HT leads have started to deteriate.
Looking over the history of my car they have been replaced several times before, is this common I am sure I heard that if you go for the more expensive race set they last a lifetime?
Is this true, or just go for a standard set ?

Standard is what I use and just replace every 12K service, never had a problem with them although they are looking tired after a 12K but still function.

I shall be obtaining Magnecores soon enough if. Lifetime guaranteed by Magnecor, and served me well on my Rover for 5+ years.

Afaik over the years the cerb owners have found the originals to be better than any other option.

I put magnecors on and got fantastic response but it didnt last and within 3 years 6k miles developed a missfire and i have gone back to the standard ones

Interesting, so the mega expensive ones don't last? If they had a lifetime warranty then maybe it would justify the cost ??

I've had (the same) magnecors on for ~5 years (and 42k). I'm going to refresh them now plus the coil packs to keep everything running right.

I have just fitted Magnecors to my Chim & they seem like a really good product. Don't do what I did & forget to order the plug extenders too !!

Was all set to order the race magnecores, now having second thoughts
Maybe save the cash, how hard/accessible for a diy or leave it till
my next service ?

If you had issues with your Magnecores, call them up and talk to them - they're mega mega helpful guys and won't hesitate to fix things under warranty as long as you retained your proof of purchase. They've fixed two corroded king lead terminals for me in the past FOC despite not having proof of purchase, and that's not even a warrant covered item as it's due to water ingress.

I've just fitted the red race leads and so far they are fine. Only fitted two weeks ago. As I had a misfire. Although changed the leads plugs and coils. The leads where the hardest part to get right as access around the exhaust headers on the back cylinders is very tight.
