A Trafpol from my Garage was at Court giving evidence about a speeding car from corroboration only.

This turned out to be a long drawn out cross -examination about what he was qualified to drive.....Class one car and Motorcyclelist etc etc.

The Defence chap was getting very irate at the quick witted but polite answers from the Traffpol when all of a sudden he threw a pencil across the Courtroom.
The place went silent before he blurted out, "ok, if youre so good, how fast was that pencil travelling"?

The Trafpol (who had 29 yrs experience)...paused, then replied, "I dont know sir, ive never ridden a pencil", to which the Courtroom burst out into laughter.

That was to me the funniest answer ive ever heard at Court.......needless to say, he won.

So to be able to accurately judge the speed of a vehicle, a police office must have had some experience in driving/riding said vehicle?

Because pencils are so small and light, not to mention poorly sprung, they seem to be going much faster than they actually are..
