Porsche moment

I had one of those moments at weekend while in Sacramento.
A mate of mine bought a Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabrio of a famous American Baseball player.

Found myself admiring this rather special example .



Anyway, came back to my senses as I got on a rental car shuttle bus in Philadelphia airport.
There was a AAA Service man trying to start a Porsche that had broken down in the pick up bay.
Shame I wasnt quick enough with my camera.

Porsche's are great cars, just a bit 'ordinary' compared to a TVR.

I drove 4 laps of Thruxton in a Cayman S in August and was surprised at how much I liked it bearing in mind I had driven the Chim up there but... it was pretty soul-less but very competent.

Hi Tony, My Brother has a Carrera 2. We swopped cars. I wanted mine back, he wanted his. It was only later he told me that found the lack of electronic aides scarry as he chased me down the A49. It was only a little damp.

Quite often consider porsches, especially when i get yet another niggle to fix, but then when you drive the Tuscan you realise that you bought a Tiv for a reason, something special about them, you simply dont get it with Porsches IMHO...

Chap at work has just spent £150K (ish) on a 911 something. I couldnt have been less interested. I just cant get excited by them. Have driven a boxster on a track and it felt gutless and was ok but so germanic that I got bored.

Porsches are very nice cars esp. 911s. Id love to have one as my day to day car but i dont think it would have enough drama to be a toy or weekend car (apart from a bright coloured GT3, which i cant afford).

Yes, I understand some of the comments, my wife got me a track drive in a GT3 and though I found the speed, handling and the crispness of it I found I wasnt 'scared' enough.

Still the one my mate bought was realy nice, sounded great (not TVR great) and had great road presence.
I was suprised by how much I liked it.

AND it was a 2006 model for only $50k with 21k miles which I thought was a good price.
